Terms of Service

The Zhuxiangzhai xiangqi app (竹香斋象棋, the “App”) and the website zhuxiangzhai.com (together, the “Service”) are provided by Vincent Wang (“we”). By downloading, installing or using the Service, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

We give you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable licence to use the App on your own devices. You must not:

• Decompile or crack the App, or republish a modified version of it;
• Use software to create or join rooms in bulk, or attack or interfere with the server;
• Use the Service for anything unlawful.

If you download the App from the App Store, Apple’s standard licence agreement also applies; where it differs from these terms, Apple’s agreement prevails.

• Nicknames must not impersonate anyone or contain abusive, sexual, unlawful or infringing content.
• Friend Match is for games between friends. We don’t supervise games or settle disputes about them.
• Network or server problems can cause disconnections or interrupted or lost games. We do our best to recover, but we can’t guarantee it.
• To keep the Service running, we may limit or stop Friend Match for anyone who abuses it.

The positions in the App come from classical manuals and games that are in the public domain. The commentary, interface, graphics, icons, sounds and software belong to us or are used under licence. Open-source components in the App are released under their own licences, listed in the App under Settings → About → Open-source licenses (设置 → 关于 → 开源许可). The name “竹香斋 / Zhuxiangzhai” and its icon may not be used without our permission.

Your own games belong to you; you are free to export and share them.

All features are free for now. If we offer paid content later (such as board themes), the price and conditions will be shown before you buy. Payment and refunds for purchases made through an app store follow that store’s rules.

The Service is provided “as is”. We work hard to make rulings and content accurate, but we don’t guarantee that the Service is error-free or never interrupted. Your games are stored only on your phone, so please export the ones that matter to you.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses (such as lost data), and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service. If consumer protection law where you live gives you more rights, these terms do not affect them.

You may stop using the Service and uninstall the App at any time. If you break these terms, we may stop providing Friend Match to you.

We may change these terms and will update the date at the top; important changes will be announced on the website or in the App. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
